A restroom is the most honest mirror of a building's hygiene standards. To leave an impression on clients that "this place is impeccably managed," you need a flawless result—a "Perfect 10 (10/10)" bathroom.
Today, we are sharing professional cleaning know-how and the perfect method for maintaining spotless restrooms.
1. Preparation: Chemicals & Equipment
A perfect clean starts with choosing the right tools. It is especially important to strictly differentiate chemicals based on the specific environment (General Office vs. Medical Centre).
๐งช Chemicals
- Office: Glass Cleaner (Urban 2), Hard Surface Cleaner Sanitiser (Urban 6), Toilet Cleaner (Urban 3), Floor Cleaner (Urban 4), Gumption.
- Medical Centres: The Office set + Deodoriser (Urban 5) is essential.
๐งฝ Equipment
- Microfibre cloths, Extension duster & Magic eraser
- Vacuum, Mop & Bucket, Wet floor sign
- Essential PPE: Gloves, mask, safety glasses (Safety is the non-negotiable priority!)
2. The Golden Rule: Colour Coding Cloths
Strict adherence to cloth colour coding is mandatory to prevent cross-contamination. This is an absolute rule that every professional must follow.
- ๐ต Blue: Counters, sinks, mirrors, polished stainless steel, general dusting.
- ๐ด Red: Toilets & urinals (High-contamination sanitary areas).
3. Execution: The 15-Step Cleaning Process
A systematic sequence determines both efficiency and quality. Follow these 15 steps seamlessly for the best results.
Steps 1-3: Prep & Replenishment
- Service Announcement: Place a "Cleaning in Progress" sign and check if the restroom is occupied.
- Replenish Consumables (First Priority): Top up toilet paper, hand towels, soap, sanitary bags, and air fresheners first.
- Trash Removal: Empty rubbish bins. Immediately replace liners if they are torn or soiled.
Steps 4-5: Chemical Application (Soaking)
- General Areas: Spray disinfectant cleaner on sinks, counters, and dispensers.
- Sanitary Areas: Spray cleaner on toilets and urinals, scrub with a bowl brush, and flush.
Steps 6-10: Wiping Down
- Vanity Area: Use a Blue Cloth to wipe down countertops, sinks, and cupboards. (Use Gumption once a week to remove sink stains).
- Spot Cleaning: Walk the room with a Blue Cloth, wiping walls (especially near dryers/bins), switches, handles, and partitions.
- Toilets: Use a Red Cloth to wipe urinals and toilets. Always work from top to bottom.
- Mirrors/Polished Steel: Clean with glass cleaner and a Blue Cloth for a streak-free finish.
- Brushed Stainless Steel: Finish hand towel dispensers and handles with stainless steel polish and a soft cotton cloth.
Steps 11-15: Floors & Finishing
- Dry Cleaning: Sweep or vacuum the floor to remove dust and debris.
- Safety Measures: Place a "Wet Floor" sign outside the restroom entrance.
- Wet Mopping: Mop corners and edges first, then fill in the center using a Figure-8 pattern. Don't miss the area behind the toilet.
- Remove Sign: Remove the wet floor sign only once the floor is completely dry.
- Reset: Refill bottles and organize the cleaning trolley for the next area.
✨ Pro Tip
"If you see it, pick it up; then wipe it down and polish it."
Make this process a habit, and you will maintain a 10/10 condition in any facility. For medical centres, never forget the deodoriser!
